Since its creation, Café Luna has been a comfortable
coffeehouse committed to serving the finest coffee on the
island. Café Luna was created by the Shattuck sisters, Tina
and Leslie, who can still be spotted enjoying Java Frosts
at the Café. The name of the cafe was inspired by Tina's
German shepherd, Luna. (Barkscotti and fresh water are
served on the patio for all of our dog customers in Luna's
memory.)
The next care taker of Café Luna was the previous owner of
the Second Wind Café at the Northend ferry dock, Sandy
Sheldon, aka the Javaqueene. To further stimulate the wit,
Sandy introduced exotic teas, daily baked goods, (her favorite
being Pumpkin Spice Bars with cream cheese frosting), Java
Frosts, creative drinks like the Racehorse, and the Blue Velvet,
and fine wines and beer. Sandy created the living room atmosphere
of the café to encourage customers to be safe, comfortable, well-cared
for and inspired by her "Coffee, Tea & Therapy." From time to
time, you will find Sandy at the café indulging in our Divine Chocolate
Bars and sipping tea filled with stories of her travels.
Natalie Sheard became the new owner in April 2007. She and her
husband Luke, and St. Bernard, Belle, live on the island not far from
the Café. Natalie is committed to providing a relaxing atmosphere, where
loiters are always welcome. Her passion is to provide local, sustainable,
organic ingredients in all the menu items and have them prepared by a
creative staff to bring you the true taste of Vashon.
